Brawn, Coq D’Argent, Providores…It’s not often we get the pleasure of being away without our little one. This weekend was an exception and a wonderful treat. Other parents will know what it is like to not have to worry about someone elses ability to keep up, not have to think about anyones hunger levels except your own, or what it is like to be frantically looking for a toilet on a crowded street…. Yes I love my daughter with all my heart but a weekend away every now and then is bliss. This weekend was all about food and drink.. Friday night was a great casual dining experience in Brawn including a really nice bottle of very sparking cider which went down a treat.
Brunch on Saturday at The providores in Marleybone was exceptional . The dish I had hails from Changa restaurant in Istanbul and consisted of poached eggs with whipped yoghurt and hot chilli butter, served with sourdough toast. Sounds like it shouldn’t work but really it does. I have a request now to recreate it so that will be a project to report back on soon.
Saturday night we had a great dinner in Coq D’Argent, including a delicious Champage cocktail with brandy and clementine which almost helped warm me up after the cold temperatures of London and the fact that their heating was not working. I would return to then all especially if Coq D’argent gets its heating problem sorted. Depsite the cold I even managed a little browsing in Liberty and picked up these little dishes which I love and will feature on my table soon.
